GTE Localize

WHAT SHOULD YOU CONSIDER WHEN LOCALIZING INTO THAI?

  • Thailand is a mobile-first market. More and more people in Thailand can afford mobile phones and adapting quickly to prioritizing mobile in their digital lifestyles.
  • In Thailand, every day has its own colour. The lucky colours of the day are: Sunday – red; Monday – yellow/cream; Tuesday – pink; Wednesday – green at daytime, grey at night; Thursday – orange/brown; Friday – light blue; Saturday – purple/black.
  • Thai people use two numeral systems – Arabic numerals and Thai numbers for different purposes.
  • Both the Thai solar calendar and the Thai lunar calendar are used in daily life.
  • The Thai language does not use space to separate words and phrases in a sentence which might cause line-breaking problems.
  • Instead, spaces are used for various other purposes. The rules for using spaces are so complex that even native speakers get confused sometimes.
  • The choice of Thai pronouns depends on a wide range of factors, such as gender, age, formality, politeness, familiarity, etc.
  • Texts in Thai are usually 15% longer than in English.
  • Thai people have adopted the metric system of measurement since 1923. However, the old Thai units are still in common use, especially when measuring lands (wha, ngaan and rai).
  • There are two time systems in Thailand. The standard time is in 24-hour notation, used in military, aviation, navigation, meteorology, astronomy, computing, logistical, emergency services, and hospital settings. For everyday usage, Thai people prefer the six-hour clock which divides the day into four quarters, counting six hours in each.
  • The full name format is first name followed by the family name. The vast majority of Thai people have two names: their full, official name and a nickname. A Thai person only uses his or her official name in formal situations. Even at work, most people use their nicknames. They are bound up in the very nature of Thai-ness and an important part of Thai culture.
  • The address format is house number, street, ward, district, city.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

As a Thai translation company, we provide a wide range of translation services from and into the Thai language. Some popular Thai language pairs we work with are English to Thai, Thai to English, Chinese to Thai, Korean to Thai, Japanese to Thai, Malay to Thai, Vietnamese to Thai, Indonesian to Thai, etc.

To have the exact price of a Thai translation project, we take many factors into consideration:

  • Project volume: In most cases, we give the quotation per word or characters. The number of words/characters is the most precise indication for the effort our linguists put into the project.
  • Service required: Some Thai translation projects only require Translation Only (TO), others need both Translation and Editing (TE), or Translation + Editing + Proofreading (TEP). The more steps a project need, the higher the rate is.
  • Industry expertise: The complexity of the required domain also affects the price of the project. General topics are charged less than high-expertise content.

Our competitive rate for a Thai translation project starts from $0.06/word. Please contact our team for a quotation for your project.

It depends on the volume, content types, required services, and other project-specific factors. In general, our translator metric is averagely 2,500 words per business day for Thai translation projects. In some cases, we assign a translation task for multiple translators to handle, with the capacity of 6,000-8,000 words per day (depending on the language pairs). For example, if you have a 10,000-word-Thai-to-English-project, you can expect to receive the translation in about 2 business days.

To get the exact delivery time for your projects, please contact our support team here.

Step 1: Receive and Analyze the project
Our team receive the request from you and calculate the number of words and analyze the content complexity to give you a quotation with the exact price and estimated turn-around time.
Step 2: Prepare source files
The source files are converted into suitable CAT tool format for translation tools.
Step 3: Start the project
We make timeline and allocate the most suitable linguists for the project based on the content types. The documents are translated and localized by a translator and edited and proofread by other linguists.
Step 4: Quality Assurance
Our PM team reviews the final translations once again before delivery to make sure possible errors are eliminated.
Step 5: Initial Delivery
We deliver the translation to you.
Step 6: Client Feedback
We receive the feedback from the clients and make suitable changes as required.
Step 7: Final Deliver
We deliver the final version of localized document to the clients.
