All major Lao language pairs are supported by GTE Localize. The following are some of the most common language pairs with which we work. Please contact our team for a complete list.

WHAT TO CONSIDER WHEN TRANSLATING YOUR CONTENT INTO LAO?

When localizing into the Lao language, you should pay attention to the below useful tips for a successful Lao localization project:

    • Line-breaking issues may arise due to the lack of space between Lao words.
    • For various purposes, Lao people use both Arabic and Lao numerals. Formal documents, legal documents, and government documents are the most common uses of Lao numerals. In everyday conversation, however, Arabic numerals are preferred.
    • In the Lao language, there are four main registers: royal (now obsolete), ecclesiastical, written, and spoken. Different pronouns and prefixes are used in each register.
    • The metric system is used in Laos for measurement. Sometimes gold and silver are measured in baht (1 baht = 15g).
    • The date format is date-month-year.
    • The time format is either a 24-hour clock or a 12-hour clock.
    • The full name format is given name followed by the family name.
    • The address format follows the template name – house number and street name – town, postcode – country.
